Language as we know it is modulated voice making sensible sounds. Let alone understand alien language (if we are lucky to receive it) we are far from understanding the language of various living beings on earth.

Our senses are designed and fine-tuned for survival and not to understand reality (something to ponder on). In this context, how can we evolve to decifer language used by other animals (and in turn aliens).

This wonderful read highlights the key concepts in language technology (if I should call that).
