Any profession or field that we examine has a few select people who contribute 50% (or more in some cases) of the total output/content in the field.

Price’s law (originally concerning publications) states that 50% of publications are from few authors, precisely the square root of total number of authors.

A close brother of the Pareto principle in the big family of mental models, Price’s law can be applied to daily life. Knowing that you probably don’t feature in the select group (contributing 50%) might aid in identifying the area that you need to focus and improve.

Marry this concept with the mental model of circle of competence and you surely have a smart strategy to excel in your select field.
