Maps serve as visual representations of our world. They aid navigation, help us understand geography, and spatial arrangement of our planet. However, not all maps are created equal, and various map projections exist, each with its unique characteristics and purposes. The Mercator projection, commonly used today, distorts the sizes of countries due to its cylindrical nature, for instance, Greenland appears larger than Africa.

Boström suggests in this article adopting the Authagraph projection, a conformal projection that accurately preserves the shapes of landmasses. He delves into various map projections, highlighting the inaccuracies of the Mercator projection.
