The Western diet has been shown to have a significant impact on the gut microbiome, which refers to the trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms that live in the human gut. These microorganisms play a crucial role in maintaining human health by affecting metabolism, immunity, mental health and the regulation of the digestive system.

This diet, which is high in sugar, fat, and processed foods, and low in fiber, has been linked to a reduction in gut diversity and an alteration of the gut microbiome. This can lead to a decrease in beneficial bacteria and an increase in harmful bacteria, which can increase the risk of chronic health problems, such as inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, and metabolic disorders.

This interesting read shows how this diet has impacted our evolution and it's time to change for the future of our health.
